This one is about glass. I googled glass puns and they were shit honestly.

When you think of glass and art, or glass art, or arty glass, what comes to mind? Is it stained glass windows, sculptures, glass-blowing, jewellery, ornate mirrors or something else entirely? This letter is in part inspired by a stained glass cig rat that my partner Mia got me for my birthday (see below), a ratsterpiece that is proudly hanging from our bedroom window.

Canadian artist Carol Milne is a pioneer of knitted glass, which is exactly what it sounds like. Milne pioneered the knitted texture using the ancient lost wax casting technique, which involves pouring hot material into a mould. Milne was the first artist to achieve knitted glass (to my knowledge), and has been working with knitted fibrous patterns ever since. I stumbled across this knotted teapot shaped like a fish and thought. Yeah! The translucent colours remind me of a Flume album cover, the ripples of colour mimic the shimmering of light across the spectrum.
